Western Europe’s pet care market is expected to rise by 2.2 percent in 2016. The statistics were released by Euromonitor International, following research on 54 global markets and over 2,000 brands across countries. The company predicts year-on-year world wide growth, with a 2.2 percent rise in the pet care sector from 2015 to 2016 and a 2.3 increase from 2016 to 2017.
Paula Flores, Head of Pet Care, told Pet Gazette: “We expect growth in 2016 in Western Europe. We also see strong markets in regions such as Latin America, India, Thailand and Vietnam.”
Euromonitor has identified global pet care trends, including an increase in pet obesity and consumers’ growing interest in pet foods’ provenance. Paula said: “Some manufacturers have created events to educate consumers and raise awareness on different issues, such as pet obesity which is an important problem in many regions, including the UK, US and Mexico.”
