Pet nutrition company Burgess Pet Care has expanded its Excel range with two new premium feeding hays, Excel Long Stem Feeding Hay with Marigold (1kg) and Excel Hedgerow Herbs Feeding Hay (2.7kg).

The additions are designed to give small pet owners more choice and better value while maintaining the high-quality, vet-recommended standards the brand is known for. Both products are sourced from Yorkshire farms and hand-selected for consistency.

Suzanne Moyes, deputy managing director and in-house vet at Burgess Pet Care, said: “For animals like rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas, hay should make up about 85–90% of their daily diet.

“These two new products respond directly to customer feedback, offering a larger size for convenience and the added botanical enrichment of marigold and hedgerow herbs, all while maintaining the premium quality Excel is known for.”

Developed by the company’s team of vets and nutritionists, the hays are dust-extracted to support respiratory health and naturally high in fibre to aid digestion and promote dental wear.

The Excel Long Stem Feeding Hay with Marigold, priced at £9.49, extends the existing Long Stem line by adding marigold to encourage foraging and provide antioxidants.

The Excel Hedgerow Herbs Feeding Hay, at £17.50 for 2.7kg, is intended to meet shopper demand for value and bulk-buy options. It contains chamomile, dandelion, nettle and mallow flower to stimulate natural foraging behaviour and support small-animal wellbeing.

Both products will be available through leading pet specialists and wholesalers.
