Luna the Dental Vets, the UK’s first dental-only veterinary business, is marking its first year in Bristol amid plans to expand its clinics, services and product range.
Following its launch by vet Dr Joe Inglis and co-founder Louise Cooke, the firm has already moved into Reading and will open clinics in Eastleigh and Surbiton later this year.
Originally established to address pet dental disease, one of the UK’s most common animal health issues, the company is now preparing to introduce fixed priced restorative dental procedures for dogs and cats.
The restorative procedure aims to save teeth rather than extract them, joining the preventive and surgical services already offered at Luna’s specialist imaging-equipped clinics.
Dr Joe Inglis, Founder and Head Vet at Luna the Dental Vets, said: “When we launched Luna in Bristol a year ago, we knew there was a huge unmet need for better access to veterinary dental care – but the response from pet owners has exceeded all expectations.
“Every week we see pets whose quality of life has been transformed simply by treating painful dental disease that had often gone unnoticed or untreated for months.”
He added: ““Our mission is to make expert dental care genuinely accessible and affordable for more pet owners, supporting throughout their pet’s life and raising awareness of pet oral health.”
Alongside the improvement of surgical procedures, the company has also developed a growing range of dental healthcare products, and a wellness plan designed to help pet owners manage their pets’ oral health at home.
Louise Cooke, Co-Founder of Luna the Dental Vets, added: “We believe veterinary dentistry deserves far more focus than it traditionally receives. Dental disease impacts millions of pets every year, and if caught earlier with ongoing support, many pets could be saved from advanced, painful disease.
“We’re building an environment where vets and RVNs can follow a dental focussed pathway, with clinical support and the kit they need, while enjoying a more sustainable career with structured, pre-booked days.”
