The new fountain includes a 1.5 litre capacity, which makes the product suitable for use for both cats and small dogs.
It also features a “unique” butterfly topper, an optional decorative element that produces four free-falling water streams. The topper can also be removed in order to provide a “quiet, bubbling flow”.
According to PetSafe, the fountain continuously circulates and filters water, which may “encourage pets to drink more”. The water is also kept clean with a carbon filter which removes bad tastes and odours, while foam filters catch hair and debris.
In addition, if the power on the fountain fails, a raised drinking tray still retains water. It is also made of BPA-free plastic and an easy-to-clean surface.
The new addition has an RRP of £27.99 and is now available to consumers. The brand will also be introducing additional items to the category later this year.
Rob Steele, marketing manager at PetSafe Brand, said: “We’re continually innovating in our health and wellness category to design products that pets can use easily and comfortably, while also being visually appealing and simple for pet owners to manage.
“We’re extremely pleased with the design of this fountain and are confident it will be popular with pet owners.”
