Rise in toxic blue green algae cases prompts vet warning

An increase in reports of toxic blue green algae in several locations across the UK this summer is prompting the British Veterinary Association (BVA) to urge pet owners to take extra precautions while walking their dogs in the vicinity of affected water bodies.

The warning also comes after news from North Carolina, US, yesterday (12 August), where three dogs on a playdate died just hours after swimming in an affected pond.
