Jollyes will open the first of five new stores in former Poundland units this week as part of a wider plan to launch six outlets in six weeks ahead of Christmas.

The first conversion will open in Thurrock on 28 November, followed by a store in Colne on 29 November. Further openings at Carlisle on 6 December and Burnley on 13 December will continue the programme, with another site scheduled for Blackpool on 24 January 2026.

The chain has added several locations in recent weeks, with new stores in Chesterfield on 18 October, Swansea on 15 November and Southend-on-Sea on 22 November.

All new branches will offer the full Jollyes range, including price cuts the retailer says have reduced the cost of two-thirds of its products during 2025. Stores will stock frozen pet food, an expanded cat range and a community pet clinic providing vaccinations and microchipping from trained Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons professionals.

The outlets will also carry a natural treats “pick and mix” section and will be set up for Zoomies – the retailer’s delivery service run through Uber Eats for customers within a five-mile radius.

Store launches in Thurrock, Colne, Carlisle and Burnley will include appearances by Santa Claus, goody bags for early visitors and a “wheel of fur-tune” prize promotion. Local mayors will attend several openings, where retired service dogs supported by the National Foundation for Retired Service Animals will be involved in the launch events.

Adam Dury, chief operating officer and chief executive designate, said: “These are exciting times for us here at Jollyes, bringing our combination of low prices and pet expertise to so many new communities before Christmas.

“We’ve had a warm welcome from customers in Chesterfield, Swansea and Southend and can’t wait to now open our doors this week in the first of the former Poundland units we’ve secured.”

Jollyes has nearly doubled its number of UK stores in the past three years and positions itself as a challenger in the pet retail market.
