Inverurie Pet Supplies is facing a super-sized repair bill. Fast-moving flood water destroyed a 20 foot wall on the Aberdeenshire-based company’s premises.

Graham Skene, the business owner, told The Press and Journal of his “utter devastation” after waters rapidly rose last week; “It all happened so fast, Luckily, I got out, but there was about four feet of water in about 20 minutes and that got up to about seven feet.”

“Because of all the rain, a 25kg bag of dog food now weighs 50kg so it will be a bit of a job to get it all cleaned.”

Like many businesses damaged by the flooding, Mr Skene will be speaking to an insurance assessor.
