The manufacturer of natural air-dried Veni-Dog treats, Petcor, has been awarded the SALSA food accreditation.
SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval) is a food safety certification scheme for food producers. It’s only granted to suppliers who are able to demonstrate to an auditor that they are able to produce safe and legal food and are committed to continually meeting the requirements of the SALSA standard.
Once businesses have demonstrated, through the audit process, that they are operating to the SALSA Standard for food production, they become fully approved members of the SALSA scheme.
Following accreditation, the producers gain a widely-recognised food certification. It then enables food producers to keep up to date with legislation and guidance to support their development of food safety management systems specific to their business.
The Veni-Dog production team worked closely with SALSA officials to review all processes and make any necessary adjustments to their manufacturing procedures in order to meet the specific high standards set by SALSA.
“This recent accreditation was a further step to build up our credibility and confidence in the eyes of our customers, seeing that we only use human-grade meat in our products and all aspects of the production process comply with food safety standards”, explains Petcor director Martin Theunissen.
