Omni, the plant-based pet food business, has secured £11m in Series A funding led by IW Capital and Rendrice Ventures, alongside investment from RootBridge Capital, Lever VC and other investors.

The business, which found success a year ago on Dragons’ Den, is supported by Deborah Meaden, who has since increased her investment, following her joint initial investment with entrepreneur Steven Bartlett.

Shiv Sivakumar and Guy Sandelowsky, co-founders of Omni, established the business in 2020. The company provides a plant-based, vet-formulated dog food aimed particularly at dogs with sensitivity or digestive problems. The range of products includes dry and wet food, dental sticks, dog treats as well as shampoo and wellness products.

The latest investment will be used to support business growth. Guy Sandelowsky, co-founder of Omni, said in a LinkedIn post: “This investment allows us to do more of what we set out to do from day one.

“Help more dogs with our allergy friendly, novel protein products, continue investing in the science and research that validates it all, open the gates to great British retailers who want to stock us on shelf, expand our team with exceptional talent and explore new markets overseas.”

The brand, while plant-based, still provides the necessary nutritional value, positioning itself as allergy-friendly, environmentally sustainable and supported by nutritional research and veterinary expertise.

Sivakumar said in a separate LinkedIn post: “Over the last 12 months, Omni has grown revenue more than 10xown revenue more than tenfold, helped over 300,000 dogs live healthier lives, expanded our product range, including our best-selling dual-textured dental sticks, initiated clinical research demonstrating meaningful health outcomes and welcomed exceptional talent to the team, including leaders who helped build iconic consumer brands such as Innocent Drinks.”

He concluded: “A huge thanks to the Omni team that showed up every day through the uncertainty. The customers who trust us with their dogs’ health. The investors who believed in us. And the partners who helped us reach this milestone.”
