Denzel’s has partnered with supermarket chain Sainsbury’s to offer low-calorie training bites in 100% plastic-free, biodegradable pouches.

The pet food manufacturer has promised that the pouches decompose in under 30 weeks in landfill, compared to over 300 years for single-use plastics.

The business has also created a new method of baking in eco-friendly, wood chip ovens in the UK, using 100% natural ingredients.

Nathan Perry, co-founder of Denzel’s, said: “We’re delighted that Sainsbury’s shares our vision to help reduce plastic in the pet category by launching our plastic-free pouches nationwide.”

Daisy Neale, brand manager, added: “Our big push for this year is to further improve our sustainability and moving towards being a totally plastic-free business.

“The team has worked really hard to create our biodegradable pouch as we believe sustainability is as important as creating healthy, tasty snacks for dogs. By choosing Denzel’s, you know that’s one less piece of plastic going into the sea or landfill.”
