Pet Blood Bank UK links with PetNet to raise awarenessThe first and only UK charity promoting pet blood typing has joined with online pet community PetNet to raise awareness, in an effort to save more dogs’ and cats’ lives.

PetNet has nominated Pet Blood Bank UK (PBBUK) as its charity of the month, promoting its bespoke PBBUK PetCards that detail each pet’s blood type for a discounted price of £9 – rather than the normal £12.99 and can be purchased through the website.

All profits made will go to PBBUK to help it continue its good work. Katrina Wilkinson, head of operations at Pet Blood Bank UK, said: “This is the first time we’ve collaborated with an online community, and we’re delighted to be working with PetNet, which not only has the voice to speak to the masses, but also recognises the lifesaving importance of giving blood.

“We hope this partnership will generate more support from responsible pet owners across the country and, of course, raise vital funds for the charity.”

PetNet’s head of commercial, Jo Halliday, is also pleased with the collaboration, saying that PBBUK was an “obvious choice of charity” for the community.

“We’ve been admiring their work since they launched at Crufts in 2007, and we know their charitable remit is held in high regard amongst many pet owners we’ve spoken to. As a dog owner myself, I would like to think that blood is available should my dog ever need it, and by helping PBBUK, I feel as though I’m protecting a much loved member of my family,” she added.
