The Pet Business Content Planner and Companion, designed to help pet firms organise marketing and planning for 2026, has been launched by journalist Rachel Spencer.

The new content planner combines a diary format with strategic prompts. It includes key awareness days, goal-setting sections, income and expense trackers, business highlight logs, habit trackers and content ideas.

The tool was designed to reduce the pressure many small firms face in planning and promoting their work.

Spencer, an accredited coach and mentor with the Institute of Leadership and Management, has also created a set of exercises titled Words for When.

These focus on challenges raised by her clients, including dealing with comparison on social media, managing new projects and maintaining a healthier work–life balance.

The planner features illustrations by designer Kate Hendry of Finbo Studio, including animal-themed artwork such as a dog recording a podcast, a hamster taking a selfie and a chicken sending a text.

This year’s edition includes a donation initiative supporting StreetVet, a charity that works with people experiencing homelessness and their animals.

Spencer said that £5 from every sale between 2 and 9 December will go to the organisation, with contributions matched through The Big Give campaign.

Spencer said: “I wanted the planner to be everything small businesses need when talking about the work they do. The content prompts and awareness days help with ideas, and the diary element is a space to capture what is happening each week. The Words for When section provides practical coaching support, along with space to plan projects, navigate change and deal with difficult conversations.

“I first met Jade Statt, cofounder of StreetVet, in 2017 while working as a journalist and we stayed in touch. When I learned about The Big Give and how donations can be matched to make an even greater difference, I wanted to build this into the planner.”
