New research has found that Air France is the most suitable airline for pets alongside Thomas Cook and TUI.

The research by Compare The Market said Easyjet, Emirates and Flybe were the worst for pets as they refuse to accept pet passengers.

Air France currently allows customers to bring along up to three pets for the same cost as an extra suitcase. The French airline allows pets up to 75kg including carrier to travel with their owners and for heavier pets the company’s planes have a special area in the hold.

Research also looked at the most pet friendly holiday destinations with New York, Seoul and Tokyo topping the list. Pets are not required to have a passport to travel to any of the three locations. Pets that enter the three countries are however required to have the necessary vaccinations.

Compare the Market says the three musts when flying with a pet are vaccinations, microchipping and a pet passport, 90% of countries require pets to be microchipped and EU pet passports are required for travel within Europe.
