Rabbit Awareness Week (RAW) takes place on June 18-26, to promote rabbit care, help bunnies find buddies and tap into the 0.8 million pet rabbit owners across the UK.

The #BuddiesForBunnies campaign will take centre stage this year. The 57 per cent of rabbit owners who own single rabbits (PDSA PAW Report, 2015) will be encouraged to find a suitable friend for their pet at rescue centres. Owners can also take advantage of free rabbit health checks at their local vet.

Founded by Burgess Pet Care a decade ago, the campaign is marking its tenth anniversary by offering retailers a free #BuddiesforBunnies pack for the event, with posters, window bunting, stickers and a children’s colouring competition with Burgess Excel prizes.

Burgess’ campaign partners include MSD Animal Health (the producers of Panacur Rabbit), RSPCA, PDSA, The Blue Cross, Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund (RWAF) and Wood Green The Animals Charity.

Rehana Kausar, small animal brand manager at Burgess Pet Care said: “RAW seeks to achieve the highest welfare standards for rabbits – and to garner the support of the pet trade is invaluable in spreading the word about proper rabbit welfare.

“With rabbits being the third most popular choice of pet for UK households, RAW has also helped many retailers increase turnover over the years. So if you’re not already involved please hop on board – the UK’s bunnies need you!”

Free RAW packs are available at rabbitawarenessweek.co.uk.
