Animal welfare charity Blue Cross has created a step by step guide and instructional video to help pet owners create a snuffle mat for their companions.
Snuffle mats are meant to mentally stimulate dogs by encouraging them to solve a puzzle using their sense of smell. Made with a rubber mat base and strips of fabric, multiple treats can be hidden under the fabric for the dog to discover.
A mat takes roughly an hour to make.
The charity advises owners to watch their dog as they play with the mat to make sure they don’t chew the fleece.
