Trade body UK Pet Food has launched its strategy for 2026 – 2029, outlining a vision to ensure British pets are the “best fed” in the world.
The plan was developed alongside members to address a shifting policy landscape and changing consumer expectations.
The strategy is built upon three core pillars of nutrition, safety and standards, and sustainability.
It provides a framework for the organisation to provide clarity to the industry while maintaining the flexibility to respond to new challenges over the next three years.
A central element of the mission involves strengthening the evidence base for pet nutrition and supporting proportionate regulation.
The body intends to foster deeper partnerships across the supply chain to maintain high standards and build public trust.
The trade association aims to build on its role as a representative voice for the sector by delivering impact through collaboration.
This approach follows the recent launch of the organisation’s annual report and sustainability roadmaps.
Nicole Paley, deputy chief executive, said: “This strategy sets a clear direction for the years ahead. We are bringing the sector together to turn that ambition into action. In a fast-moving environment, our role is to provide clarity and consistency, helping the sector move forward with confidence while continuing to raise standards and support the health and wellbeing of pets.”
