YKC launches two-month challenge for young dog owners

The group, which is run by The Kennel Club, is inviting members of the YKC to go running with their dogs, in order to be in with the chance to win a prize

The Young Kennel Club (YKC) has launched a new two-month challenge for young dog owners looking to keep fit and active after the Covid-19 lockdown.

The group, which is run by The Kennel Club, is inviting members of the YKC to go running with their dogs, in order to be in with the chance to win a prize.

Taking place from now until 30 June, the challenge involves running a “set distance” over the next two months to ultimately total either one mile, 5K or 10K in their local area, depending on participants’ age group.

Those under 12 years old are asked to run one mile across the eight weeks, whilst dog owners over 12 years old are challenged to run 5K, and those over 17 years old are challenged to run 10K.

The distance can be accumulated over a series of short runs over the two-month period.

Once completed, they will also be entered into a draw to win a Fitbit and £100 Argos voucher.

The Kennel Club is the oldest recognised kennel club in the world. Its role is to oversee various canine activities including dog shows, dog agility and working trials.
