The animal welfare charity Blue Cross has created an app to raise awareness of sick and homeless animals through the power of social media.

The app can be downloaded from Google Play or the Apple App Store or can be used online, users can then connect this to their Facebook or Twitter account to share their post on there.

The app asks users to upload three 15 second video clips or images of their pet alongside answers to a few short questions about what their pet means to them.

The app will run temporarily until 6 May, with the aim being to persuade more people to adopt by showing the positives of owning a pet.
