Pets Corner Staff Learn Sign Language

Pets Corner Staff Learn Sign Language

Pets Corner staff are being encouraged to learn sign language with the aim of improving the shopping experience offered to deaf customers.

The manager at Pets Corner’s Hitchin store, Beth Tyler, already has a QCA (Qualification and Curriculum Authority) Level 1 certificate in sign language. After she mentioned her qualification, Managing Director Dean Richmond put in place a significant financial incentive scheme for any staff members who pass the level 1 or 2 courses, encouraging them to learn so they can assist deaf customers with ease and confidence.

Beth said ‘I’m really happy that this bonus scheme has been given to all of the Pets Corner staff. Dean is very good at rewarding his team so I would like to say thank you personally to him. Most importantly, this will greatly improve shopping in Pets Corner for any deaf or hard of hearing customers.’
