National Pet Month celebrates its 25th anniversary this year with the UK pet trade being urged to join the party and raise funds for their favourite pet charities.
This national celebration of responsible pet ownership has helped countless pet organisations over the past 25 years with thousands of pet owners, vet and pet professionals organising fun and educational events around the country.
From schools, veterinary practices and pet shops to community groups, charities and individuals, pet lovers across the UK have joined forces to share National Pet Month’s Top 10 Tips for responsible pet ownership and fundraise for a variety of pet charities, big and small.
NPM chairman Phil Sketchley said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating National Pet Month’s silver anniversary this year and would love the UK’s pet trade to join us in this celebration. The whole focus and theme for this year’s campaign is Celebrating Our Pets and we hope as many pet professionals as possible will join us in celebrating the wonderful impact pets have on our lives while enjoying our silver anniversary.”
He added: “With the UK’s pet owners, vet and pet professionals behind us we can help promote responsible pet ownership and encourage people to join in our celebrations by organising and attending events throughout National Pet Month. Join in the fun and help us celebrate our silver anniversary in style!”
There will be a host of events taking place all over the country, competitions for schools, pets and owners to enter and a chance for NPM supporters to stage their very own event in aid of a favourite animal charity. Last year there were hundreds of fun events up and down the country which raised thousands of pounds for pet charities. So, if you want to have fun and raise money for a good cause close to your heart then get planning.
National Pet Month, which began as National Pet Week in 1989, is a registered charity and grows more popular each year, with thousands helping to spread the key messages of responsible pet ownership, the mutual benefits of living with pets, the role of pet care specialists and the value of working and assistance companion animals.
Through National Pet Month’s social media accounts there will be all kinds of fun and easy to enter competitions going on throughout the campaign and look out for a virtual 25th anniversary party on Twitter where followers will be able to join in the celebrations and win some great prizes!
