Mars Fishcare’s Lester Bunce will cycle from Land’s End to John o’Groats in June to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Bunce, field sales manager at Mars Fishcare, aims to complete the self-funded 834-mile ride in seven days. To do so, he will have to cycle an average of nearly 120 miles per day. It is estimated that he and his seven team members will burn off 392,000 calories during the ride.
“It will give me an extremely positive focus through the seven-day challenge as I battle through physical and mechanical issues and the inevitable wind and rain,” Bunce said of the charitable reasons behind the ride.
Mars Fishcare has pledged to donate his cycling jerseys for the week and to match 50 per cent of employee’s donations.
