Napo Pet Insurance has partnered with pet technology company Tractive to include GPS tracking and health monitoring devices as standard with eligible new insurance policies.

Under the agreement, new Napo customers will receive a Tractive GPS device as part of their cover, rather than as an optional add-on.

The move marked a shift towards embedding preventative technology directly into pet insurance products.

Most insurers currently offer GPS trackers as optional extras or incentives, but do not provide the devices as part of standard cover.

Napo said bundling the technology would give pet owners tools to help locate lost animals and identify potential health issues earlier.

Tractive, which specialises in GPS tracking and pet health monitoring, said the deal reflected growing alignment between insurance and technology in the pet sector.

The device offer represents the first phase of the partnership, with further product integration under consideration.

Any future data-driven features would be developed with explicit customer consent and subject to privacy protections.

Jean-Philippe Doumeng, chief executive of Napo Pet Insurance, said: “Partnering with Tractive lets us add practical peace of mind from day one. This is the first step in a broader collaboration focused on prevention, safety, and helping pets live healthier lives.”

Michael Hurnaus, chief executive of Tractive, added: “Pet insurance and smart technology naturally belong together. By working with partners like Napo, we are creating the foundation for deeper integrations that benefit pets and owners.”
