Harbour Veterinary Group has opened a new £3m hospital in Portsmouth, the third of its sites in the area to relocate in the past two years.

The group’s Harbour Veterinary Hospital in North End moved in July to a 7,235 sq ft purpose-built building at Anchorage Retail Park on Portsea Island.

The investment is part of a wider programme that has also seen Harbour Vets Havant and Harbour Vets Southsea move to new premises.

The new single-storey hospital has six consulting rooms, two operating theatres, a CT scanner, dental suite, digital x-ray facilities, an in-house laboratory and an isolation ward.

Separate waiting areas and hospital wards for cats and dogs have been created, along with walk-in kennels for large breeds and a dedicated dog exercise area.

The expanded site will allow the group to serve more clients and increase the range of clinical services.

It will be staffed by a large clinical team, patient care assistants and receptionists, including veterinary surgeon Gabriella Williams, granddaughter of CVS founder Brian Pound.

Kim Howe, practice director at Harbour Veterinary Group, said: “Our group has six sites in the Portsmouth area. Within the last two years three of them have been relocated to a fantastic new purpose-built building. It is a huge investment by CVS and demonstrates the continued commitment to the area.

“These new sites have a superb range of facilities, meaning our team of clinicians will be able to perform their best work and will be able to look after many patients right here. It will also enable us to grow the number of patients we see, meaning we can give the best care to local pets across the city.”
