Veterinary group VetPartners has continued to expand its farming offering with the acquisition of production animal vet group Origin.
Origin owns a number of well-known business that operate across the pig, poultry and laboratory and consultation sectors. The deal is said to make VetPartners the largest and most diverse production animal veterinary company in the UK.
The company’s current portfolio contains veterinary companies such as Willows Veterinary Group, Hampden Vets, Abbey Veterinary Group, Hale Veterinary Group and Penbode Vets. While Origin is the current owner of Biobest Laboratories, Garth Pig Vets, Poultry Health Services, Westpoint Farm Vets and Kingshay Farming and Conservation.
VetPartners is intending to phase out the Origin name due to the strength of the individual brands under its umbrella. While the Oakwood Veterinary Group’s small animal division will become part of VetPartners’ companion animal division.
A VetPartners statement said: “The addition of the Origin Group, which owns some of the best known businesses operating across farm, pig and poultry, as well as a laboratory and consulting business, will create the biggest, most diverse production animal team in the UK.
“It will be joining VetPartners’ existing production animal network, including Willows Veterinary Group, Hampden Vets, Abbey Veterinary Group, Hale Veterinary Group and Penbode Vets, and the latest acquisition expands the depth and breadth of the group’s portfolio of companion animal, farm and equine practices.”
