Pet food manufacturer Fish4Dogs has announced it has signed a new contract with Mediterranean distributor Ikaros Accessories and Nutrition.

The companies joined together after meeting at the Interzoo exhibition in Nuremburg, Germany, earlier this year.

The expanding Greek business, which was founded in 1980, initially sold luxury pet accessories. Following the acquisition of bigger premises earlier this year, Ikaros, which is headed by Panagiotis Moutzouris and his sister Maria, wanted to extend its product ranges to include pet food and treats.

The Ikaros pet team has ambitious growth plans and is seeking specialist outlets across Greece, including the Islands.

For Fish4Dogs, the new distributor arrangement supports its continued export expansion. The brand is now sold in than 34 countries and has seen year-on-year growth for six consecutive years – a performance acknowledged with a Queens Award for Enterprise: International Trade in 2017.

Panagiotis said: “We have wanted to work with Fish4Dogs for some years but we were aware that they had an existing arrangement in Greece through an associate of ours. When that came to an end, we decided to approach Fish4Dogs to see if we could work together.”

Samantha Randle, Fish4Dogs’ European sales manager, added: “Interzoo is always a great place to network. We were there to start conversations with prospective partners, so when Panagiotis approached us, we were very keen to hear about his plans.

“Panagiotis has already taken Ikaros Pet in exciting directions and with its love of pets and a Mediterranean diet being naturally rich in fish, we knew our brand would be appealing and relevant to pet owners. Also, the Ikaros team has a real drive and professionalism, as well as being focused on the wellbeing and vitality of dogs and cats – qualities we look for in our partners.”
