Prior to joining the group, Mooney held senior roles at global brands including Google and  Vodafone, and was previously chief people officer at Monzo and Snow Software.

According to Pets at Home, she has been “instrumental” in developing talent acquisition strategies, upskilling leadership, and shaping organisational effectiveness throughout her career.

The group added that she has a “strong sense of purpose and people engagement remain central to building a meaningful employer brand”.

In addition to her previous senior roles, Mooney has held several board roles, acting as a non-executive director at both Vodafone Group Services and Women’s Aid (Ireland).

Lyssa McGowan, CEO of Pets at Home, said: “I am incredibly excited that Rachel is joining our Executive leadership team and I know she will  quickly become a huge asset to our business. She is an outstanding leader who brings with her  vast experience leading best in class People functions across globally recognised brands, as well  as within smaller, more agile and digitally-led organisations.

“We are incredibly lucky to have amazing colleagues across the business who live and breathe our special Pets culture and with  Rachel’s guidance we will continue to build a supportive and inclusive environment where our  colleagues can truly thrive.”

Mooney added: “I am delighted to be joining the Pets At Home team and being part of an exciting and growing  business that is centred on the well being and welfare of our wonderful animal friends and their owners.”
