A 4 Paws centre in South Killingholme has been closed following a raid by the police and RSPCA.

The intelligence-led raid saw more than 160 cats and dogs taken away from the clinic.

Evidence was then released showing the squalid conditions the animals were kept in and the owner Jodie Fairbrother has been linked to another closed rescue centre in Chellaston in Derbyshire.

A sign has been put up at the centre’s main gate entrance, which reads: ‘Strictly No Entry’. The website for the centre now redirects to the Dogs Trust website, where dozens of the rescued animals were relocated.

A Dogs Trust spokeswoman said: “We are still looking after the dogs that came into our care and their welfare continues to be our top priority.”

The RSPCA did not comment on the centre or its closure.
