Lord Trees to open BVA Congress 2012

Lord Trees, the second veterinary surgeon to enter the House of Lords, will open the British Veterinary Association’s (BVA) annual congress on 28 September.

‘Delivering a healthy future’ is the theme of this year’s two-day contentious issues programme. Some of the topics to be discussed will be horses for sport; women in the veterinary profession; responsibility and cost sharing; and anti-microbials.

Chairman of the Health Protection Agency Board Professor David Heymann will deliver a lecture, titled ‘Interests in common: the veterinary contribution to public health’, to examine how the role of vets in public health could be developed.
