Charity cycle across Pyrenees for Smartbedz directorNigel Bateson, director of Smartbedz, will soon be embarking on a charity cycle across the Pyrenees for Macmillan.

He will be joined by Team Whippet, consisting of Henry Woodhall, Ian Murray, Oliver Murray and John Simpson.

Originally planning to set off in 2013, the team’s plans were moved forward when Nigel’s mother-in-law was diagnosed with colon cancer in November 2011, followed by two operations and then a six month course of chemotherapy starting in January 2012. The team decided to dedicate the cycle to Macmillan, an organisation that helped her through this time.

From 21 to 29 June the team will cycle 720 kilometres in eight days over 18 mountains from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic.

Team Whippet aims to raise as much money as possible for the charity and has set up a JustGiving page. To donate, visit www.justgiving.com/whipthepyrenees
