Pet GPS and health tracking company Tractive has launched new cat and dog devices, advanced health intelligence and a reconfigured app.

It comes as the brand revealed it is shifting from a GPS tracking innovator to a “holistic” pet health and safety platform.

Established in Austria in 2012, Tractive produces wearable devices for dogs and cats that provide owners with insights on their pets.

The company’s new ‘Dog 6 XL’ tracker has been created for larger breeds and high-energy lifestyles, debuting improved health intelligence.

With enhanced durability, a lighter-weight structure and a battery that can last three times longer than the ‘Dog 6’ model, the brand said it is “smarter, lighter, and more powerful than the previous XL tracker”.

Using a new scratch monitoring system, which flags when scratching behaviour changes, the gadget also targets nipping surface potential allergies, skin irritation, pain, stress, or underlying concerns in the bud.

Tractive also plans to unveil an ultra-durable XL Adventure Edition later this summer.

The business has also introduced the ‘CAT 6 Mini’, the first collar-integrated GPS and health-monitoring device suited to cats’ physiology and behaviour.

The company said the device is bridging the gap between canine and feline care, as feline health has historically undergone less technological advancement.

Supported by billions of anonymised data points of cat movements and behaviours, Tractive said ‘CAT 6 Mini’ is based on data gathered from real cats.

Available in three colours, it contains a cat product’s first resting heart rate and respiratory rate tracking feature informed by feline baselines, helping it to pick up on small changes that may point to stress, sickness or discomfort.

The CAT 6 Mini’ also operates using a refreshed ‘Territory’ component, indicating where cats spend their time, from favourite spots to changing roaming patterns.

Michael Hurnaus, chief executive and founder at Tractive, said: “Since Tractive’s founding, we’ve helped pet parents know where their pets are. Now we’re helping them understand how their pets are doing. Pets can’t tell us when something is wrong, but their bodies can.

“With cutting-edge sensors on every tracker, learnings from millions of pets, and AI-powered insights, we’re turning one of the world’s largest pet data platforms into clear, simple information so pet parents can act sooner and care even better.”
