OxyPet has been named “most eco-friendly pet product at the Business Awards UK in acknowledgement of its commitment to sustainability and environmentally conscious production.
The Essex-based dog water brand said its achievement spotlights its converged focus on pet health and environmental responsibility, including through the use of cardboard packaging.
The company additionally uses ‘Prevented Ocean Plastic’ bottles, made from recycled plastic gathered from coastal areas vulnerable to ocean pollution.
OxyPet produces oxygen-infused spring water, aiming to boost hydration, circulation and recovery in dogs.
It said it is especially popular with owners of brachycephalic breeds such as French Bulldogs, Pugs and English Bulldogs whose facial structure frequently causes breathing problems.
The Business Awards UK recognises companies leading the way in innovation, sustainability and positive social impact across various sectors.
OxyPet was also recently named a finalist in the UK Pet Business Awards for Customer Care, recognising the support it gives to pet owners about the benefits of improved oxygen intake with guidance and free educational resources.
Lindsey John Taylor, 45, co-founder of OxyPet, said: “This award is a tremendous honour for the whole team and a lot of hard work behind the scenes. We didn’t just want to create a product that could help dogs breathe more comfortably and recover better after exercise. From the very beginning, we also wanted to make sure it was produced in a way that respects the planet they walk on.
“For us, it’s about improving dogs’ quality of life while also being responsible about how our products are made and packaged.”
Karla Pearson, an OxyPet director, added: “Our ethos has always been that pets’ wellbeing and environmental responsibility should go hand in hand. Pet parents care deeply about their animals, but they also care about the world those animals live in. It’s incredibly encouraging to see that approach recognised, and we hope it inspires other companies in the pet sector to think more seriously about sustainability.”
