Mars appoints Marc Carena as global president of petcare

Mars has appointed Marc Carena as global president of Mars Petcare, with effect from January 2026.

Carena joins the role from Mars Snacking, where he has served as regional president for Europe, Central Eurasia and international travel retail since joining the group in 2022. His remit covered 55 markets.

Before joining Mars, Carena held senior roles at McDonald’s, including managing director in Russia, and previously worked in retail and FMCG positions at Metro Group and Nestlé. He is also vice-president of the European Food and Drink Association, which represents FMCG companies across Europe.

Carena replaces Loïc Moutault, who is stepping down after more than 30 years with Mars. Moutault held senior roles across multiple functions, business segments and geographies and played a key role in the development of Mars Petcare’s nutrition and care operations.

Mars Petcare operates globally across pet nutrition, veterinary care and diagnostics, with brands including Pedigree, Royal Canin and Whiskas, and veterinary networks such as Banfield, VCA and AniCura.
