The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has announced a new licensing agreement with Harvest Wildlife Products to launch a range of RHS-branded wild bird food, now available at selected retailers across the UK.

The RHS Gourmet Wild Bird Food range has been developed in collaboration with the RHS and includes a selection of seed blends and suet-based products designed to attract a variety of garden birds throughout the year.

The range targets common species including robins, finches, tits and other songbirds.

Products in the range include suet coconuts, blocks, pellets and fat balls in fruit and nut and high energy varieties, alongside specialist seed mixes such as robin and songbird blends and small garden bird mixes.

The products are available in a range of pack sizes intended to suit different garden types.

Packaging for the range features botanical and wildlife illustrations inspired by material from the RHS Lindley Collections, which house more than 30,000 works of botanical art.

Harvest Wildlife Products said sustainability was a key consideration in the development of the range.

Ingredients are responsibly sourced and traceable, with suet products made using British-sourced beef tallow. The company said it aims to use recyclable packaging where possible and reduce carbon emissions through logistics and transport planning.

The range was previewed at the Glee trade show and the Pets and Aquatics Trade Show (PATS) at the NEC in September. It went on sale in January through selected garden centres, pet retailers, wholesalers and online outlets, with wider distribution planned in the coming months.

Harvest Wildlife Products, which is headquartered in Lincolnshire, has more than 125 years’ experience in manufacturing wild bird food.

The company holds BRCGS food safety certification and is a member of Sedex, which focuses on supply chain sustainability.

Matt Bryant, chief executive, said: “We’re delighted to have worked with the RHS on these ranges and we’re confident they will be well received by retailers and customers.”

Cathy Snow, Licensing Manager, RHS, added: “The RHS always aspires to enhance the joy people experience in their gardens. That’s why developing RHS-branded wild bird food blends and treats specially developed to bring more wildlife into gardens was a very attractive proposition – and working with one of the leading manufacturers of wildlife products in the UK has been a perfect way to make that happen!”
