Pet retailer Jollyes will open six new stores between mid-November and mid-December, including five in former Poundland locations due to close this year.
The company, which recently opened in Chesterfield, will launch new stores in Swansea on 15 November and Southend on 22 November, followed by Thurrock on 28 November, Colne on 29 November, Carlisle on 6 December and Burnley on 13 December.
A further former Poundland unit in Blackpool is set to open as Jollyes in early 2026.
The new stores will feature Jollyes’ full range, including frozen pet food, an expanded cat range and in-store pet clinics offering vaccinations and microchipping.
Customers living within five miles of each store will be able to use the retailer’s Zoomies delivery service, operated in partnership with Uber Eats.
Jollyes will offer guaranteed interviews to former Poundland staff in affected towns. The company has introduced a series of new employment policies over the past year, including enhanced maternity and paternity leave, fertility and neonatal leave, and recruitment partnerships aimed at improving workplace inclusivity.
Adam Dury, chief operating officer and chief executive designate, said: “We’re excited to have the opportunity to bring our combination of low prices and pet expertise to so many new places before the end of the year.
“For too long pet parents across the UK have had little choice – high prices at a specialist or the limited range of a general retailer. The secret to our rapid growth is the serious commitment to value in a store where customers can get all they need to care for their family pet alongside advice from our knowledgeable and highly trained colleagues in store.”
