Jollyes will close all of its more than 100 stores on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day to give staff additional time off over the festive period.

The retailer said the move was a gesture of thanks for employees’ hard work during the year. It will also bring forward December and January pay dates to help staff manage their finances.

December 2025 salaries will be paid on 19 December, with January 2026 wages to follow a week earlier than usual.

Jollyes said more than 95% of its staff own a pet and would benefit from extra time with their animals.

The company has introduced several new employment benefits in the past year, including six months of paid maternity leave, four weeks of paid paternity leave, and provision for fertility, neonatal and baby loss leave.

It has also partnered with organisations such as Rest Less, the Fair Chance Business Alliance and the Armed Forces Covenant to widen access to jobs, including for older workers, ex-service personnel and people with criminal records.

Adam Dury, chief operating officer, said: “It’s the special combination of prices and service from our talented and knowledgeable colleagues that makes shopping at Jollyes special for pet lovers.

“And that’s why we’re delighted to be able to recognise their hard work during 2025 by giving them the festive break they deserve – and a chance to spend quality time with their families, including their own pets.”
