The Lakes Collection Dog Play Park has opened at a pet store in Cumbria, offering a dedicated space for dogs to exercise and socialise.

WCF Pet and Equestrian launched the new play park at its Ulverston branch on 16 July. The enclosed outdoor area includes agility equipment and toys, and is designed for up to four dogs at a time.

The space can also be booked for individual use by owners whose dogs are uncomfortable around others.

Each session lasts 50 minutes and can be booked in store or by calling the Ulverston branch.

The company, which has eight stores, plans to expand the dog park initiative to other locations, including Penrith, Wigton, Castle Douglas, Skipton and Claughton, following similar openings in Ulverston and Cockermouth.

Jade Earley, general manager of WCF Pet and Equestrian, said: “We wanted to create a space where people can bring their dogs to run around and play in a safe, fun environment.

“There are lots of great dog parks in fields dotted around, but it’s good to offer something central in town which makes it more convenient for owners.”
