Harbro Group, a livestock feed company, has acquired UK-based veterinary pharmacy and pet care brand Murray Farmcare after 50 years of service in the animal health supplies industry.

Harbro Limited is a privately owned independent Scottish company formed in 1976, Harbro trades throughout the UK and internationally, operating three feed mills, two blending plants and now 24 Country Stores.

The group is also involved in research trials with the UK’s “leading” institutes and on farm, leading to the development of new products, manufactured using quality raw materials and designed to maximise the health and performance of livestock.

Murray Farmcare Ltd will continue to trade as usual, so customers will see little change to their existing experience with the company and will benefit from the introduction of the increased product offering and resources Harbro brings.

Andrew Cairns, managing director of Murray Farmcare, said: “We look forward to joining the Harbro group and offering the Murray Farmcare customer base a broader variety of products and services.”

Chris Baxter, managing director of Harbro, added: “Murray Farmcare has a very similar offering and audience to Harbro, so it is a perfect fit. We have the shared ethos of providing excellent customer service, advice, and value for money. We look forward to welcoming the Murray Farmcare team to the Harbro Group and continuing the success of both businesses.”
