Bone Idol Academy has announced the launch of an online first aid course for dogs aimed at owners.

Topics on the video course include CPR, poisoning, wound care and choking, and some modules include demonstrations of key techniques.

The company stated that the aim of the £30 course is to get as many people as possible to learn the basics of canine first aid.

Qualified tutors at the Bone Idol academy have taught canine first aid qualifications and the short course includes that information in a bitesize way.

The course is taught via video lessons hosted on the Bone Idol website and supporting material to read.

Jon Clark, Bone Idol tutor, said: “The more people that have the basics of canine first aid the better, and this course, which can be done at your own pace, takes around two hours in total to complete and contains great information, which will help you react quickly and decisively in an emergency.

“From the basics of CPR, to understanding when to call the vet, this course is a great place to start for people who are strapped for time. It’s a positive step in the right direction and will help keep your dog and other dogs you meet safer.”

He added: “We have been part of the pet industry for many years, and as a business we have taught hundreds of people pet first aid as a qualification. But this course is accessible, online and useful for the wider public.”
