Beco launches Independent Pet Shop Award

Beco, the UK-based sustainable pet brand, has announced the launch of the inaugural Beco Independent Pet Shop Awards to “champion the brilliant people who work tirelessly managing the independent pet shops we love up and down the country”.

Beco will be honouring these workers by asking people to nominate their favourite independent pet shop.  A judging panel will visit the nominees before crowning one of them the UK’s Favourite Independent Pet Shop. 

Nominations open on Monday 11th October and will close at the end of October. The team of judges will visit the nominated pet shops and a final winner will be announced at the beginning of November. 

The pandemic led to a rise in pet ownership, as 3.2m people became new pet owners last year. Beco said it aims to draw attention to the extra work undertaken by pet shops, with increased home deliveries, community support, and advice on nutrition, pet care and sustainability.

George Bramble, Beco co-founder said, “Britain is a nation of pet lovers, and this has never been more obvious over the past year or so.  

“We have always relied on local pet shops for all our pet care needs, and now we’re calling on people all over Britain to thank these high street champions by nominating their favourites and encouraging people to support their local pet shop.”
