The Senior+ range from Burns promotes healthy ageing for senior dogs and is based on the group’s Burns Chicken and Rice recipe. It is available for both small and toy and average sized breeds, and includes “simple and wholesome” ingredients such as chicken, brown rice, peas and oats.
The food contains controlled levels of protein and fat to maintain an ideal body weight for older dogs, and also provides a “nutrition boost” thanks to the addition of salmon oil, glucosamine, chondroitin and blueberry and green tea extract.
It is available in both standard size kibble and a smaller kibble and reportedly caters to all breeds and sizes. The food can also be softened with water for dogs who have undergone dental treatment’
The newly released products will be available to buy via Burns’ website and independent pet stores from 1 September 2021.
Burns Pet Nutrition founder, John Burns, said: “We created the Senior Dog range to specifically cater for mature dogs who need that little extra support. Just like humans, as dogs age, their bodies change.
“Their bones become weaker; they lose weight and their joints become stiffer and less flexible. This recipe contains all the nutrients older dogs need a little extra support to to keep them feeling young, healthy and full of life.”
