BSAVA appoints new Head of Congress

The British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) has appointed a new Head of Congress. Her first task is to lead the 60th annual event in Birmingham next April.

Angharad Belcher has joined the 10,000 strong membership association. She offers PR, marketing and event experience within the veterinary sector and promises that Congress is committed to evolving along with the industry.

The appointment supports the BSAVA’s commitment to put partnership at the core of the organisation, so that the profession and industry can work hand in hand.

Angharad has an undergraduate degree in Medical Sciences from the University of Sheffield and a post-graduate qualification in Sustainable Development and Agriculture from the Royal Agricultural University.

She worked in the veterinary and agricultural sectors while at a top PR agency, driving strategic planning at a UK and global level across the companion, livestock, poultry and arable sectors.

As a member of the Veterinary Marketing Association, Guild of Agricultural Journalists, and known for speaking in the Oxford Farming Conference Debate, Angharad has an extensive network within the industry, as well as energy and enthusiasm for evidence-based veterinary science and developing world class educational opportunities.

“I’m thrilled to be leading the team into the next decade, starting with the 60th annual Congress in 2017,” Angharad said.

“BSAVA Congress is steeped in history and remains driven by vets for the good of the profession, so this is the perfect opportunity for every delegate to hear from expert speakers, see the latest technology and network with fellow professionals.

“I look forward to working with our sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers and delegates over the coming weeks as we prepare to make 2017 a year to remember.”

BSAVA President Susan Dawson said: “We are delighted to welcome Angharad to the team and confident her wealth of experience, industry knowledge and passion for events can be hugely significant moving forward as we look to achieve our strategic vision.

“Through Congress we bring together industry and the profession for the wider benefit of the veterinary community, so I am very much looking forward to working with Angharad as we celebrate our 60th Congress together.”

BSAVA Congress takes place in Birmingham on 6-9 April 2017. More information is available at www.bsava.com/Congress.
