Skinner’s appoints new managing director

British dog food producer Skinner’s has appointed a new managing director. Current finance director, Lee Phillips, will replace outgoing MD Greg Panter who is stepping down after 16 years.

Lee, who will take over on November 1, joined Skinner’s in February 2002 as financial controller. He became finance director in 2008.

Throughout his time at Skinner’s he has gained experience in IT, HR, Telecoms, Haulage, Key Accounts and looks after Customer Services. All of this he feels stands him in good stead for his new role and on his first day as MD he sees it pretty much as ‘business as usual’ but with a different title.

Lee believes the people he works with or ‘the best team’, are the key to Skinner’s success. Speaking about the role he says, “I am so proud to have been chosen to succeed Greg at the helm of such a friendly, inspiring company. Every single employee – from the outgoing MD, Greg, through to the reception team – shares the same passion for the brand and the love of their customers. “

Lee’s first significant task is likely to be to oversee the launch of Skinner’s major new range, due to hit shelves in early 2017. This launch is a key step in helping grow the Skinner’s brand throughout the pet sector, which is a primary objective moving forward. Lee outlines his longer term vision for the company as becoming a major, recognised pet brand – hopefully to equal their top spot in the working dog food sector.

“We’re extremely lucky to have Lee take the reins at this really important time for our company,” says Greg Panter, outgoing managing director. “He’s fully involved himself with many aspects of the business throughout the last 14 years and developed a wealth of knowledge that will help take us forward during these exciting times of growth and development.”
