A pet grooming business in Ilfracombe Gardens was targeted by burglars.

Thankfully, the thieves who forced their way inside The Grooming Room left empty handed.

Julie Goulding manager of The Grooming Room doesn’t think that burglars aimed for a pet business.

“I think they were just after cash. Nothing was touched and nothing was taken.

“I don’t think we were targeted because we are a pet business at all.”

The police are appealing for witnesses,  Whitley Bay Neighbourhood Sergeant Lisa Henderson told the NewsGuardian: “We’re appealing for help from the local community to find those responsible. We also want to ask local businesses to be vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour they may see.” Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting reference number 147 of 29/09/16 or ring the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
