Devon-based manufacturer, Forthglade, has launched a new healthy eating and lifestyle campaign for dogs. Clean Eating for Dogs has been created to educate pet owners on the importance of a pure, natural and balanced diet.
Forthglade has partnered with the Houndsley Brothers – a pair of playful cocker spaniels. The Houndsley Brothers’ Guide to Clean Eating for Dogs is a fact-filled downloadable guide designed to help dog owners understand pure, natural diets for dogs.
Available to download from August 22, the guide celebrates mealtimes. It includes information from Forthglade on advice on canine nutrition and its influence on behaviour and health.
Dog owners will discover how to choose the tastiest and healthiest food for their dogs. The guide also advises on how to create positive associations and good behaviour at mealtimes and the best way to use food when dog training.
Joint managing director, Gerard Lovell, comments: “The trend for clean eating as a wider concept with those passionate about good inner health, has been growing in popularity for some time.
“We’re incredibly proud of our natural, British made dog food, and so capturing this concept for dogs is a natural association for us. Humans thrive on ‘clean’ food that’s free from artificial ingredients and full of natural goodness… and so do their dogs.
“A poor canine diet leads to a poor association with mealtimes, fussy eaters, as well as lackluster coats, bad breath, unpleasant or irregular bowel-movements and even disease. Owners will be amazed by the changes in their dogs when they switch to clean, nutrient-dense dog food.
“This is not about dieting and it’s not a fad or wellness craze, it’s about pure, nutritious food for life. When you make a change to natural dog food, you and your canine companion will both look forward to mealtimes, nourishing your relationship as well as your dog’s physical and mental wellbeing.”
Canine behaviourist, Nick Jones, supports the campaign. He added: “In my work I frequently look at areas in the dog’s ‘family’ life to create a relationship that allows the animal to be well mannered, content and free from stressful behavioural patterns.
“The right food plays a massive role in creating the right associations, and providing a nutritious, natural and balanced diet is the very first step in achieving this; dogs will learn to relax and enjoy their environment. I think this educational campaign is a great idea.”
