Pedigree Wholesale appoints new head of operations

Pedigree Wholesale has announced the appointment of Rob Palin as its new head of operations.

Plain has spent the last 12 years of his career in the logistics industry, working across various sectors such as automotive, retail and leisure, technology, utilities and healthcare.

With a background in running operations and delivering projects from small-scale warehouse start-ups to multi-million network redesigns, Plain brings a wealth of knowledge gained while working with brands such as the NHS, McLaren, Bentley, Tesco, Apple and Vodafone.

Starting his career in retail, Plain progressed through various management training programs and “accidentally” fell into working in logistics, but once he’d experienced it, he knew “it was what he wanted to spend the rest of his career doing”.

Plain said, “There is a buzz and cadence to warehouse operations that you rarely find elsewhere, which is highly motivational. I’m impressed with the passionate teams we have around us.

“The customer is truly at the heart of what we do, from our Buying Teams, who ensure that we have the very best range to offer our customers, through to operations, where we are fully supported to innovate and continuously improve, to offer the best service to specialist pet stores.”

He added: “Now that we are on the other side of Covid, I want to look at standardisation and operational efficiency, reviewing our operational processes to find the most robust, repeatable and reliable ways to serve our customers. I’m looking forward to working and delivering some of the exciting plans we have for the not-so-distant future.”

Gerard O’Mahony, managing director of Pedigree Wholesale, concluded: “Our main goal this year is ‘Raising the Bar’, and the changes and processes Rob is currently working on introducing to our operations will help us do so. Our operations team is the backbone of our business, and working on improving in every way we can will help us serve our customers even better.”
