Pet Family acquires 30% stake in Cats and Dogs

Pet Family’s specialist products will be stocked by Cats and Dogs to help differentiate the retailer further

Pet Family, the owner of Pets Corner, has purchased a 30% share of Cats and Dogs, a family-owned retailer in Flanders, Belgium.

Cats and Dogs was started 20 years ago by Kevin Massart and his mother, Brigitte Pettens, with one store which has now grown to seven around Antwerp.

The investment will provide Cats and Dogs with growth capital to open at least 20 stores in the next five years.

Dean Richmond, Pets Corner CEO, said: ‘“There is no other retail chain like Pets Corner that focuses on quality and ethics, and I believe there is a consumer in every market wanting better products, sourced with integrity and sold by properly trained staff.

“I’m convinced there are many high class emerging retailers in Europe, like Cats & Dogs, who would benefit from our investment, supportive brands and group scale to help them grow, and we’d love to work with them.’’
