Chief executive of the Pet Care Trade Association Janet Nunn said: “For a pet owner, nothing beats the experience of a bright, local in-store offering with engaged, expert salespeople to discuss their pet’s precise needs. But we mustn’t take the high street for granted, which is why the Pet Care Trade Association signed up to the Independents’ Day campaign to get people shopping in their local independent stores on 4 July.”

The Pet Care Trade Association supports some 1,500 pet care businesses such as pet shops, grooming salons, kennels, catteries, colleges, wholesalers and manufacturers.
