A new pet boutique is set to open its doors in Folkestone, after its opening was initially delayed by the coronavirus crisis.
Local resident Debbie Convery will now open Not for Humans, after being “inspired” by local residents who helped her find her missing dog.
Convery told Kent Online: “Two years ago during the hottest week of the summer, Brenda ran out the front door and was missing for five days.
“We launched an appeal to find her and people were so helpful, sharing the information and even coming from other towns to help. It really hit me how much people love their pets.”
The boutique is set to open in Old High Street on 10 September, launching alongside special guest Lucy Smith, the Folkestone RSPCA animal welfare officer.
The shop will feature handmade pet gifts, soft furnishings and sustainable pet products from local and national suppliers.
Products include pet beds made from upcycled furniture and suitcases, designer dog coats, handmade leads and collars, dog walking utility bags and designer cat beds, amongst others.
In addition, Not for Humans will sell animal themed jewellery, bags, trinkets, cushions and face masks for pet owners.
According to Kent Online, 10% of all profits will be donated to the RSPCA in its four first days of trading.
