A virtual charity pet show, which is set to take place in Darlington later this year, is now open for entries from pet owners.
The photographic competition has been organised by The Darlington Rotary, and pet owners are encouraged to send in a picture of their pets to partake in the virtual event.
The photographs will then be judged by award-winning animal photographer, Tracy Kidd.
Owners can submit an unlimited number of photographs, and entries cost £5 each. All money raised will go towards charities affected by the pandemic. The deadline for submissions is 7 August.
A winner and runner-up will be announced in the coming months. First prize is an 18×12 inch fine art print of their pet, as well as a £100 voucher towards a photo shoot, or a photography lesson with Kidd. The runner up will receive a print alongside a £50 voucher.
Organiser of the competition Sue Campbell, said: “While we still can’t get out in large groups to dog shows and other events, we thought it would be fun to see what photogenic pets are out there and give animal lovers the chance to help their community.
“It doesn’t matter what the animal is – dogs and cats may be popular of course, but pictures of any sort of pet will be welcome. However, as organiser, my own lovely dog will sadly be barred from winning.”
