Purina Pro Plan has launched Pro Plan AdvantEDGE, a new range of pet food focused on probiotic nutrition.
The line includes two specialised categories, Adult Digestive Support+ and Senior Support+, designed for dogs and cats aged seven and older.
The company stated that the Adult Digestive Support+ formula uses a blend of prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics.
The senior range is intended to address cognitive health and joint mobility in dogs, and muscle mass maintenance and immune support in cats.
The dog formulas use salmon or chicken as the primary ingredient and are produced without corn, wheat, or soy in specific varieties.
Meanwhile, the cat range is based on nine years of research into feline life expectancy and weight management.
The products are available through pet specialty retailers and online. Pricing for dog formulas starts at £19 for 3.5lb bags, while cat formulas begin at £19.50 for 3lb bags.
RuthAnn Lobos, senior veterinarian at Purina, said: “A healthy digestive system is foundational to a pet’s overall health, and AdvantEDGE was developed specifically to target that. Probiotics are at the core of every formula, with each line going deeper where pets need it most.
“Senior pets have very unique nutritional requirements, and a one-size-fits-all approach simply isn’t enough. Pro Plan AdvantEDGE Senior Support+ was built with those specific needs in mind.”
